Welcome
|
|
Welcome to the Atlanta Chapter of the InfraGard Programs Web Presence. This program is a partnership of businesses, the FBI, educational entities and the National Infrastructure Protection Center. This alliance is designed to protect IT systems from hacker attacks and other intrusions by providing a network for sharing information, anonymously, about attacks and how to protect against them.
InfraGard, which the FBI began as a pilot program in Cleveland in 1997, is represented in the Southeast by the Atlanta Chapter. InfraGard was formed as part of the federal government's effort to protect the nation's critical information systems. It is endeavoring to function as a national clearinghouse of information about security intrusions, hacks, vulnerabilities, and to offer tools to help detect, isolate, and prevent attacks.
Members are linked to each other and to the FBI by the bureau's secure "alert network." Companies can anonymously report incidents to all other members without fear of publicizing their vulnerability. The FBI provides encryption software to protect information exchange among members. The National Infrastructure Protection Center will use data gathered from different InfraGard chapters to compile reports on nationwide security trends. As Security risk grows the InfraGard program is becoming the FBI's front-line of defense."
Mission
To provide a public-private partnership and platform for the confidential exchange of Internet and Information Systems related security information among members to enable business and infrastructure protection.
Vision
To operate as the highly-regarded, definitive source of information dedicated to the protection of critical national infrastructures.
